more sauna and toilet work

Hello again,

Another day just flew by, and i learnt lots again.
I am actually having fun at this job.

Today i was told that with a circlesaw, a drill AKA screwdriver and a saw you can build almost anything.
In joints we predrilled holes for screws and added some glue for extra strenght.

A wonderfull tool the circle saw, very usefull for cutting to size planks and small board, cutting in angles or diagonally.

second layer or lower bench of the sauna. in its bginning stages.

Second attachment

while waiting for some wood we decided to put the sauna door.

the sides of the premade door have to fixed to fit over the tiles in the frame of the door.

We cut a small peace of wood from the bottom to make the door fit.after that we used the waterpass to level the doorframe in the doorway and attached the door with big screws to the frame. We then measured to see if the widths were correct and level and finally attached the door. I will put a picture of that tommorow.

The bottom bench. The corner pieces were premade, the glued in place for extra strenght with b3 glue, the straight pieces I precut to size and glued in place on the frame. a few hours later when the glue had dried we screwed the screws in from underneath for a clean smooth look.
Why underneath? for a simple reason. If you put them on top, lets just say that you would not like to have tattoo's burnt on you behind in the shape of a screw.

A small bench or foot stool in progress made to fit around the "kiuas"(sauna heater).
Because the floor is not completely level we tried to adjust the feet so the bench stands straight on the slanting floor. a good trick i learnt is to put a piece of wood on top and stand on it, if it was not stable enough we then adjust the legs accordingly.

A bit of tiling, i am not an expert but it turned out well. Yesterday we put a second layer of waterproofing. The man that was showing me how to do the first ones helped me with cutting out the tiles that needed to be cut special for parts that had to be clear. His breath smelled like he had just been drinking a bottle of vodka and i must confess i was glad to see him go.

Hehe we spent a whole hour looking for the drainage ring that was missing. but when we did finally find it the place looked a little bit cleaner.

WATERPROOFING AND BUILDING A SAUNA

Hello ,

Today it was an absolutely nice day.
we have been waiting for a week for the carpenter to come back but now that he is here we finally got started on all the good stuff.

The assignment for today was starting work on the sauna walls and the benches and waterproofing the toilet.
I had a great time learning and absorbing all the things the carpenter was teaching me.
He is very kind and takes time to explain every step and action he takes when building the sauna.
here are some pictures of the work we did in 2 days.

I also did some waterproofing while the carpenter was gone.
Good thing i learnt it already, and it was easy do to.
fisrt i put waterproofing in the corners then put the canvas on top and waterproofed the under the flap and then on top. When that was done i painted the waterproofing from corner to corner, put canvas from one end to the other and waterproofed on top of that. the toilet hole then had its turn followed by rhe whole floor. tommorow whe will put a second layer, let it dry and the cut out and fix the toilet and the drainage hole.
here is some more pictures. as you can see the corners and folds are not straight and in some places it was just isolation and nothing else, still for a first time i did follow the instructions i have had and was told i did a good job at it considering it was the first time ever and that the toilet there was not realy correctly done and hard to waterproof.
Here are some pictures.
